CSA Shares

Join our CSA Share program and get local, seasonal, sustainable vegetables all season long so you can eat the freshest, best-tasting, most nutrient dense produce.

Our CSA Share program is packed with features that make it convenient and easy to eat healthy, fresh produce from our farm.

  • Pickup in Saint Peter or Mankato on Thursday Afternoons or Fridays on the farm.

  • We get it. No matter how many times you try or how many different ways you prepare it, you just don’t like that vegetable.

That’s why we offer the ability to customize your share every week so you always get the produce you want!

  • We offer a variety of payment options including cash, card, credit, & ACH through our CSA software, GrownBy.

We also offer payment plans so that eating local can fit most budgets.

  • Life is busy. We know you won’t always be able to pick up your share. That’s why we offer the ability to claim multiple vacation weeks during the season so you don’t miss out.

  • We grow over 90 varieties of produce including staples like potatoes, carrots & onions to super foods like beets & broccoli and so much more. You’ll always have an ample selection of produce for your share.

Don’t take it from us, here’s what our members say about their CSA shares.

I love my Cedar Crate Farm CSA! I have been a member of multiple CSA’s over the years and Cedar Crate is my favorite. Produce is of the highest quality. Not only is the variety great, but they allow you to choose preferences and make swaps every time. They also have multiple pick up options which you can change of you can’t make it for some reason. They are quick to respond if I have questions and I love the email newsletters.

I really enjoyed the CSA subscription this season. It felt like an excellent value for the variety, quantity and quality of produce received every week. It is also just fun to try new vegetables and get creative with them. Supporting local and sustainable agriculture is important and Dan and Lara make it easy and enjoyable through their CSA subscription service.

2022 was my family’s first year trying Cedar Crate Farm’s CSA, and we’ve already renewed our subscription for next year! The freshness and quality of their produce is the best you’ll find anywhere! We loved having the ability to customize our share each week, and the flexibility to reschedule our pick up was convenient during the busy summer months.

For the past six years, my wife and I have purchased a half share of a CSA from Cedar Crate Farm. It has provided us with an abundance of delicious, fresh produce each week during the growing season. We look forward to figuring out how to make the most out of each delivery, and we’ve discovered favorite new recipes along the way.

CSA Member Testimonials

  • "Amount of food is unbeatable with the cost per week. Quality + all the add ons (aka eggs, aka yum). Your flexibility with pickup locations and times and the ability to swap items makes each week successful."

  • "We love our CSA that we have received for the last few years. The produce is high quality and a wide variety. We love being able to customize our share each week using Harvey to match our families needs. We also love supporting a local business and getting to know our farmers through the events they hold at their farm."

  • "My family has enjoyed a CSA share from Cedar Crate Farm for the last several years. We love the variety and quality of the fresh veggies and are always excited to get to try new things - we also appreciate their recipe suggestions to know how to cook new to us produce. It’s super easy to add on extra veggies that they have available as well as other things (we’ve done a bread share, apples, and a flower share the last few years which have been AMAZING to round out our crate) through the Harvie website. It’s always fun to interact with Dan and Lara during market days or pick up - they also host us out at the farm for a tour of what they have going on there. It’s a great way for us to learn about where our food is coming from and my family really enjoys it! Being able to support local sustainable food is important to us, and it’s fun to do when the food is great and you work with great people!"

  • "One of the things I like best about doing a CSA is that it is low waste. Your produce doesn't come with all the plastic containers/cellophane wraps as produce from Aldi where we do our other shopping. Also our children have learned to try (and love) many more fresh and healthy foods than we did as children. Lastly, I like knowing we are supporting your family. It feels like we are doing good for the earth, our kids, and our community just by buying good food :)"

FAQs

What does CSA mean? What is a CSA?

CSA is Community Supported Agriculture. You, our farming community, support local, small scale, sustainable ag by purchasing a share from our farm. In return, you get fresh, sustainable produce from our farm during our growing season.

How much produce is in my share?

We offer two share sizes that accommodate most families. Our half share contains 5-8 items per week. We recommend half shares for households of 1-3 people.

Our full share contains 10-16 items per week. We recommend full shares for households of 3-6 people OR for families that like to preserve the harvest by canning, fermenting, or freezing.

Are you Organic/Sustainable/GMO Free?

We are not certified organic but we use organic and sustainable practices such as cover crops, reduced tillage, companion planting and crop rotation on our farm.

We do not spray synthetic chemicals on our produce nor do we use synthetic fertilizers.

We do not plant any GMO varieties.

How long do CSA Shares last?

Summer Season CSA Shares start in early June and run through mid-October.

Winter CSA Shares start in mid-October and run through mid-December.

What are the pick up options for CSA Shares?

We have a variety of pickup options available including Thursdays at the Mankato Farmers Market and the Saint Peter Food Co-op and Friday on our farm.

GrownBy, the website you use to manage your CSA, allows to switch your pickup location anytime you need!

What kinds of produce will I find in my share?

We grow over 70 varieties of produce each season and always try to have as much variety as possible. Our Farm Shares are also totally customizable so you can always tweak your share to get exactly what you want.
